Sakinah
Resources

Sources and further reading.

Sakinah does not generate religious text. This page lists the upstream sources the app bundles, and a short list of independent resources we think are worth knowing about.

Where our content comes from

Sakinah bundles text from these sources rather than generating it. Attribution is the point — if you want to verify what you read, go to the source.

Quran.Foundation

Primary source for the Uthmani Qur'anic Arabic, word-by-word morphology, and the tafsir corpus (Ibn Kathir, al-Baghawi, al-Sa'di, al-Muyassar, Ma'arif al-Qur'an, Tazkirul Qur'an).

Quran.com

Reference translations by named translators, including Saheeh International and Mufti Taqi Usmani.

Sunnah.com

Canonical hadith collections with full Arabic isnad and English translations — Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Abi Dawud, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, Riyad as-Salihin, Shu'ab al-Iman.

Sunnah.now (Early Access)

Scholarly API built on Sunnah.com data. Sakinah cross-checks bundled Bukhari Arabic against this source as part of the provenance workflow.

QUL (Tarteel)

Word-by-word data, reciter audio indices, and ayah timing used for the Qur'an reader and audio alignment.

EveryAyah / QuranicAudio

Reciter catalogue for the audio layer (Abdul Basit, Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Saad al-Ghamdi, and others).

Salah.com

Prayer-time reference material used to validate local timing calculations.

Further Islamic reading

Independent platforms we consider well-curated. These are not affiliated with Sakinah.

Nuqayah

A curated directory of Islamic applications and heritage texts — Qur'an readers, tafsir browsers, hadith search, memorisation aids — organised around classical sources. Operated with support from Ayatt Charitable Society (Kuwait).

New to Islam or want a physical Qur'an

For readers exploring Islam or who took the shahada recently. Both sites below are run by the One True Message Foundation, a registered UK charity (No. 1206615), and are not affiliated with Sakinah.
